In terms of fiber and yarn components, polyester and cotton are the main ones. The big brands are basically cotton + polyester fabrics, and there is very little cotton, because the clothes made of pure cotton are not easy to dry, so the sweat after exercise is very easy. Residues on clothing, causing clothing to emit odor. Therefore, sportswear generally does not use pure cotton. Polyester is great for fading and styling.

In terms of fabric organization, the current common sportswear fabrics include double yarn pique, single yarn pique, French thread, plain weave, mercerized cotton, cover silk, silk cover cotton, functional cloth and so on.

Classification of fabrics for sportswear:

1. Refreshing sports fabrics

Sportswear with sweat-absorbing, quick-drying or moisture-wicking properties can be called "Refreshinggarments", which provide competitors with a comfortable feeling and create good results on the sports field.

The idea of this kind of clothing design comes from the capillary phenomenon of trees, such as the multi-layer polyester knitted fabric Fieldsensor, whose inner layer is coarse-count denier polyester yarn, which is in direct contact with the skin, and the outer layer is hydrophobic fine denier polyester yarn. The dense structure of the surface can accelerate the effect of perspiration. Cubesensor and Coolmagic woven fabrics, Aerosensor double-sided warp knitted fabrics, with similar concepts, develop more differentiated functions.

In the Technorama laboratory, it has been confirmed that the moisture absorption of the inner layer of Fieldsensor fabric is lower than that of ordinary T/C fabric during running. Developed a sunlight-reflecting/UV-resistant fabric "Aloft", which is a sheath/core conjugated polyester fiber yarn. The core part is filled with special ceramic particles to improve its physical properties. Ester fiber for comparison.

2. Moisture-permeable and waterproof fabric

The design concept of the moisture-permeable and waterproof fabric is to block the infiltration of heavy raindrops, mist and snow, and the sweat discharged from the human body can be discharged smoothly. Known for CF-laminated GORE-TEX fabrics, ideal for alpine climbing and marine activities.

Toray's Entrant is a moisture-permeable waterproof material coated with PU resin, which removes excess moisture from the inner surface of the fabric, and currently has an annual output of 1.3 million meters in Japan. Toray's other non-coated high-density incandescent "HZOFF" is a polyester ultra-fine denier air interlaced yarn with a structure with high moisture permeability.

EntrantG-II, recently developed by Toray, is composed of double-layer PU honeycomb films of different densities.

At present, "Dermizax" is developed, which is non-porous PU resin coated on polyester woven fabric, and the moisture permeability can reach 5500g/m2/D. In addition, the porous resin can make the fabric discharge moisture at high temperature, and keep warm at low temperature, while keeping the fabric moderate moisture.

3. Warm fabrics

The fabric absorbs sunlight energy, converts it into heat, and stores it in the fabric to achieve the effect of keeping warm. This kind of product has been developed by Unitika, called "Solor-a", and carbonization is added to the core of the conjugated polyester fiber. Zirconium, which makes the fabric warm. Toray's Megacron uses a solar absorber to absorb the energy of the sun. A layer of fabric made of metal oxides and fibers filled with zirconium oxides, after being absorbed by the sun, releases infrared heat energy and raises the temperature to achieve the function of keeping warm.

Another product, Querbinthermo, has a decolorizing fabric surface and a ceramic layer on the reverse. After exposure to light, when the temperature is higher than normal, the surface layer will appear white, and when the temperature is lower, the color will turn black. For further development, the thermal fabrics developed for alpine rock climbing and cold climates use high-density hollow fibers to coat a layer of metal in the gas phase, conduct heat sources through radiation, and distribute them throughout the fabric through circulation control.

4. Low-resistance sports fabrics

In swimming and ski jumping competitions, due to the fierce competition, the gap is often 0.01 seconds, so for the needs of such sports players, the function of low resistance came into being. High-gauge (32G) double-sided warp knitted fabrics blended with nylon and elastic yarns, such as Toray's Acquapin fabric, can reduce frictional resistance in water by 10%.

Another product, Acquaspec, is more functional and can reduce drag by 15%. It is made of polyester superfine denier with surface finishing. Other companies, such as Descente, use corrugated processed yarns to form very fine grooves on the surface of the fabric to reduce the frictional resistance in water. The same design concept is used for air fluids to reduce the resistance of ski jumpers in the air.

The Dimplex fabric is co-operated by Descente and Eschler. The corrugated yarn is used to form a convex shape on the surface of the ski jumping fabric, so that the athletes can reduce the air resistance to a minimum during the stages of starting, taking off and flying in the air.

5. Ultra-high-strength fabrics

Athletes often have violent and rude movements in competitions, such as quick slips, collisions, and collisions. Dynamonus fabric is a blend of high-strength polyester spun yarn and 5-15% P-aromatic polyamide fiber (high-strength fiber). It has excellent heat resistance and can resist friction, rubbing and climbing. , to prevent being cut by the sharp angle of the rock.
